V28: Large Blue Gold Pinecone Vase

Description

This gorgeous vase was made by casting a large digger pine pinecone with the blue, gold and other colors of resin you see in the photo.  This creates a large solid blank which is then mounted to the lathe where I shape the outside and hollow the inside.  It’s as if you’re looking at a pinecone from the inside out.  There is a resin topcoat that gives it the glossy finish and some UV protection.  It is difficult to photograph this piece without the lights reflecting.  It stands about 6″ tall and is 6″ wide.
