V55: Torched red fir with wax

Description

This unique vase is made from local red fir which I then scorched with a torch which allows for the harder wood of the growth rings to be proud of the softer sapwood.  I then applied embellishing wax to further highlight the texture and grain.  The inside has a resin coating which allows this vase to be used functionally, able to hold water should you choose.

The vase stands 7″ tall by 3.5″ wide.
